Medtronic Cardiac Surgery “Speed to Market - 2002 Partner of the Year” Winner Presented to The Tech Group & S&W Plastics
November 1, 2002 -- In October of 2002, Medtronic Cardiac Surgery hosted it’s annual Partner Summit to share their vision of Medtronic’s business and recognize and reward those companies that have been instrumental in their efforts to be the leader in the treatment of Major Chronic Diseases.
Medtronic Cardiac Surgery recognized The Tech Group and it’s Eden Prairie, MN based affiliate S&W Plastics, for their “Speed to Market” on two specific product launches. Tech Group Grand Rapids was recognized for its launch of the Octopus 4, Tissue Stabilizing System, used for Coronary Bypass Surgery. Seven one-cavity tools were built and qualified in an eight-week time frame. Subsequent engineering changes were rushed through the tooling as well. This performance supported the customer in their desire to beat a competitor to market. Tech Group affiliate, S&W, was recognized for their performance on the APG (Magellan) program. In issuing the award, Medtronic used these programs as an example in stating that suppliers have a tremendous role in Medtronic’s ability to meet their objectives.
Criteria for this award were based upon the delivery of final parts within an 8 to 10 week lead-time. “It’s this ability to stay close to your customer, anticipate their needs and react quickly, that make these projects so successful,” stated Steve Uhlmann, Tech Group CEO and Chairman.
The award was accepted on behalf of Steve Uhlmann and Ryke Fowler of The Tech Group, and by Scott Thiss and Rick Stein of S&W Plastics.
